Shop Manager Job Description

Hours: 30-40 hours per week / full-time

About the Role: The Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations which includes a diverse array of responsibilities while serving as the lead staff person managing Ethos’ brick-and-mortar retail location. The Shop Manager will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including but not limited to:

  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Communicating low waste principles and product specifics to customers
  • Assisting customer in-store, by phone and digitally 
  • Managing all staff members 
  • Managing staff-wide to do lists and special projects
  • Creating and managing staff schedule
  • Overseeing inventory management through inventory checks
  • Acting as the main point of contact for staff 
  • Supporting team in tasks and their on-going training and growth 
  • Leading in the management, hiring, and training of Shop Associates 
  • Managing general shop upkeep, cleanings and maintenance
  • Managing  product displays and merchandising
  • Assisting in creating social media content by capturing photos or videos
  • Assisting in creating promotional deals and discounts
  • Managing the registers which includes cash handling and depositing 
  • Assist in developing and executing community collaborations and in- shop events/workshops
  • Managing all health and safety for staff, customers and the shop
  • Working closely with upper management to implement and create new systems

Position Requirements: Experience working in retail at a management level 

Physical Demands: This position involves being on one’s feet and standing for the large majority of shifts. The position also involves sitting, squatting and the ability to lift, carry + pour liquids comfortably up to 50 lbs. 

Compensation + Benefits: Starting pay is $21-$24 per hour, based on experience.

Schedule: 30-40 hrs per week week. Available weekdays and weekends. Weekends are required.

Supervision: This position is supervised by Ethos’ Shop Owner and works closely with other managers, all while working collaboratively with all other team members.
