About the Role

The sales associate role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring the successful operation of the storefront, and working to create a positive environment for Ethos team members and customers alike!

The Shop Associate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including but not limited to: 

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Engage with customers in an authentic way
• Show initiative in answering customer queries and helping customers access product
• Create a positive and non-judgemental space for customers to shop and build community 
• Show a willingness to determine the specific needs of each person who enters the store and provide appropriate service
• Create a space in which customers can consider their impacts on their community and find excitement in making changes towards sustainable living
• Manage customer complaints and problem solve to uphold Ethos’ standards for an excellent customer experience
• Ability to learn numerous product details and demonstrate a high-level of product knowledge 
• Show initiative in learning about products and their uses
• Ability to discuss with customers how our products fit into the larger sustainability movement
• Educate customers on general sustainability practices
• Maintain store cleanliness, product displays and overall shop appearance
  • Straighten, arrange, and display products to maintain an organized and appealing appearance (this will be expected daily)
  • Restock merchandise and shop supplies (this will be expected daily)
  • Organize and maintain a working knowledge of backstock
  • Create and maintain window displays
• Perform merchandising duties 
• Take inventory counts of products (this will be expected weekly)
• Bulk stock maintenance 
• Refill bulk containers for the floor
• Reorganize bulk containers 
• Maintain knowledge of bulk backstock
• Keep the shop clean and in peak working order (expected daily)
• Clean in accordance with shop protocol (this will be expected daily)
• Keep merchandise clean and dust free
• Clean bulk containers, including jugs, pumps, and jars
• Keep surfaces and floors clean
• Maintain shared staff spaces
• Reliably open and close the shop alone
• Communicate proactively, respectfully, and in a timely manner with team members (expected daily)
• Complete set weekly tasks and tasks delegated by management 
• Handle cash and card transactions
• Follow all shop protocols and company policies
• Receive shipments and inter-store inventory transfers (once trained)
• Test and evaluate potential new products
• Assist with online orders (once trained)
• Be proactive in your ongoing education regarding the company, our products, and other offerings
• Take on special projects as desired
• Work in partnership with other team members, your direct manager, the regional manager, and the owner to keep the store well maintained, clean, safe, welcoming, and representative of the Ethos brand

Position Requirements 

• Availability on weekends, both Saturday and Sunday 
• Ability to work alone and stay motivated
• Able to be on your feet and standing for the large majority of shifts 
• Ability to squat and lift, carry, and pour liquids comfortably up to 50 lbs

Position Pluses 

• Experience working in retail
• Experience working in other customer service job/s
• Experience working or volunteering in the sustainability movement

Compensation + Benefits  

• Starting pay is $16-18 per hour depending on experience

Schedule: This part-time position is between 10-25 hrs a week. Weekend availability is a must. Flexibility on weekdays.  

Supervision: This position is supervised by the Shop Manager, while working collaboratively with all other team members.
