Product Description:
Pick your animal… a shaggy Highland cow, a penguin in a striped hat, a sloth, an otter, a little blue whale. There are ten in all, and every one is made by hand, so no two come out exactly alike. The photos show a few versions of each animal (hats and colors vary), so yours might look a little different. The price is for one ornament.
They're an easy gift on their own, a sweet topper tied onto a wrapped present, or a little something for a stocking. And they'll come back out every December for years.

Materials:
Knit animals: 35% alpaca, 15% wool and 50% acrylic, with polyester filling.
Hippo: crocheted cotton, with acrylic filling.
About 3 to 4.25 inches tall, depending on the animal.

Care:
Spot clean. Store them somewhere dry between seasons and they'll be ready for next year.

The Makers:
Melange Collection, from Arvada, CO, works with knitting artisans in Lima and in rural villages in Peru, through groups focused on creating income for women. The artisans earn a living wage and have a safe place to work.
The hippo is crocheted by a women's collective in Armenia that got its start with seed funding from Save the Children.

End Life:
Made to come out every December for years. When one is finally worn out, it goes to landfill, since the yarn or filling has acrylic in it and won't compost.
