In-Store Shopping 

Are you open for in-store shopping? 

Yes! We are currently open 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Come visit us and our refillery to refill on our bulk products!

Do you offer recycling programs through TerraCycle?

Yes we do! Please check out our Drop-off Recycling to see what programs we offer, and what is acceptable in each box before bringing your items in. If you are ready to bring in items to the shop to be recycled, when you arrive please let a team member know so they can help assist you in properly sorting items into their corresponding box. 

Can customers bring in their own containers to use at your refillery?

Yes, please! We encourage you to reuse containers you already have at home. Any container, made with any material (that’s right, we totally encourage you to reuse plastic containers!). All jars brought from home must be clean and dry. 

Can customers donate their  containers from home to be reused by community members at our refillery?

Yes!  We  have a jar donation bin for containers that customers wish to donate to be reused and refilled by the community (no pickle, butters or stinky containers, mason jars preferred). All jars brought from home must be clean and dry. We take these jars home and sanitize them before offering them to customers for refills.

I am new to refilling. What should I know before coming in?

That is so exciting! We are always so happy to have new refillers at Ethos! Feel free to come on in and we’ll walk you through, step by step, on the refilling process. 

As for containers to refill? We have mason jars, paper bags, and all other kinds of fun bottles and containers in the shop for purchase. You are also more than welcome to bring your clean and dry empty containers from home.

We recommend browsing all the refills we offer on our site to get an idea of the costs and what you might want to try or refill before stopping by. This can also help you prep what containers from home you might want to bring in. Keep in mind the price difference via online and at our storefront. We price all our liquid refills on our website with an additional mason jar deposit of $2. At our storefront, all refills are priced by the ounce (oz), each refill has a product label that lists the price per ounce. The overall price depends on how many ounces you choose to refill.

Shipping

How much does shipping cost?

All our shipping is carbon-neutral and plastic-free. Shipping is free for orders over $50, and otherwise costs a flat rate of $4.99. At this time we only ship within the U.S. Read here for more information on our shipping, storefront pickup and local delivery.

How do you ship with no waste?

We are proud to say we package your orders completely PLASTIC-FREE and CARBON-NEUTRAL! We ship using recyclable and compostable materials. These include: recycled cardboard boxes, kraft paper envelopes, paper tape, and compostable shipping labels. For more answers to questions regarding shipping, please click here!

Online Ordering

How does your mason jar return program work with online liquid refills?

There are no shipping or pickup options for me at checkout. How can I complete checkout?

All of our liquid bulk refills come in returnable glass mason jars and are not available to ship, so if you've added one of those to your cart along with items that can be shipped, then you will be unable to check out.

If you'd like to have your order shipped, remove any liquid bulk refills from your order. Consider swapping them for any of our refills that are available for shipment. You should then be able to check out!

My gift card is not working when I am checking out. What do I do?

Please email us at [email protected] with your order # and phone number and we will give you a call to complete your order using your gift card and/or other forms of payment.

Product Offerings

How did you select the products you sell?

We thoughtfully select the products that we sell in our store, and we pride ourselves in ensuring we are offering truly sustainable, low waste, and safe products for our Ethos community. It is of the utmost importance that we not just bring you a product to help you decrease your waste, but that we do so from companies who we feel are:

  1. Driven by a desire to protect the planet
  2. Are doing their level best to treat their workers fairly and humanely
  3. Have given thought to the life cycle of their product to make sure it won’t end up in the landfill at the end of its life
  4. Are close to us! We source locally whenever possible and try to support the small businesses who share our mission.

How are your products packaged when you receive them from the manufacturers?

We expect our shipments to arrive from our wholesalers plastic-free and deliver these items to you plastic-free.  We do not work with companies who are unable to deliver on this promise. Most of our products are delivered to us in cardboard boxes and kraft paper, that we then reuse for our shipping orders! 

We are very proud to say that we have a closed loop system with almost all our bulk suppliers. It means that when we return the containers bulk refills are packaged in, when they are empty, and they will be cleaned and refilled. When we can't return containers, we reuse or recycle them
